All it takes is someone swearing at me to make me happy

Today, as I was exiting the movie theater( where we had just watch the new James Bond thriller Quantum of Solace, and the pay phone was randomly ringing. No one was picking it up, so on an impulse I decided to answer.

“Uhm Hello?”
“@#$() have you been @&@$#(* you @*@#(* !(@* !(@!*)!#)!&!*^!*&^~#@(“
“Actually, there is no one else around, I’m not who you think- “
“!@*! *!@*!@*#! *!&@”
“I’m sorry, but you called a pay phone and I just picked it up and “
“!*!&#* you !*!*# do You want to die? 1(#!* 181##(#*”
“Hmm , no thanks”
“!#&^$ !&!*& You I’m Gona !*!#(*#! Kill you #!(*#&!”
“Oh ok, Well, Love you bye!”

After this conversation I felt really good. It took a while to figure out why, because I had just been called some very interesting profanities and had my life threatend by a random stranger. Here’s my reasons:

  1. I stepped out of my usual shell and did something spontaneous to pick up a random payphone
  2. I wasn’t the intended recipient of the call, which make me happy that I have a cell phone and don’t have to wait to pick up a payphone to be verbally abused- I can be called directly :)
  3. I wasn’t phased or intimidated by his threats or profanity.

I’m not sure about where his life is headed, but I feel far more positive now about mine, and I think I’ll make it a habit to answer random payphone calls in the future.

Oh wow!! That just made my night, I cat stop laughing.

I can see why that would put you in a good mood, and the way you handled that! Brilliant!

So your telling me that I should jus tcall you directly to tell you off? Perfect: i’ll call right now! Oh ok so snce it is Sunday morning at 6am and you are probably sleeping I think I’ll pass.

Sounds interesting Jeremy but what is a pay phone?

Interesting how someone elses negative attitude that you / we don’t know can lift our own opinions about ourselves. Interestingly enough when it is our friends or family with negative attitudes or less favorable circumstances it isn’t the same.

Ok enough with my ramblings; It is 6am on Sunday morning. I see my dad for the first time in 13 years in under 2 and a half hours. Wish me luck!

    btw; how was the movie?

Twilight: Since I didn’t read the book, I didn’t really have any pre-existing information about it other than there’s vampires at some point in the plot. I thought that it had excellent cinematography, some awesome song choices (Muse and Radiohead). It was a fairly strong plot, and definitely left itself open for future movies- but not in an Empire strikes back sort of Han Solo in carbonite sort of way. I thought that in parts it felt a bit contrived, and there is a lot of continued played up tension between the characters. I think it MAY be enough to satisfy the teenage fans, but might disappoint older fans.

Quantum: This movie seemed even more violent than previous one, and I think did a good job in answering a number of questions from Casino Morrongo…err Royale.
It has major chases in multiple fashions, but I felt that some parts of fight sequences and the physics were a bit too convenient..but man…he can sure take a punch. I like this new genre, it’s gritty, bold, and physical. I REALLY liked the continuity of the story. They also did throw back to earlier bond staples- The opening credit once again have shadowy nudes, and he again is using his old PP7 pistol. I liked it, it kept you interested, lots going on, but gotta hold the plot threads or it gets murky.

First off I want to say that I dig the new header, this is the first I had seen it. As far as the pay phone call goes I want to apologize. Had I known it was you I would have used even more colorful language.

However, now that I know that it was you who thwarted my plans to cuss out and kill the intended recipient of that call you best watch you back…LoL J/K

    Amusing story, thanks for sharing!
